Lisa Hartl - Trumpet
Lisa began taking guitar lessons at age seven but music did not become a true passion until she first had the opportunity to play in her elementary school’s concert band. In high school she picked up the trumpet by coincidence and immediately fell in love with the instrument. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Trumpet Performance at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music and her Artist Diploma in Performance at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory.
She enjoys teaching and freelancing in Toronto and has been a part of the 2015 and 2016 National Youth Orchestra Canada. Lisa is also fascinated by early music and studies the baroque trumpet. She has participated in early music programs in Germany and at the Oberlin College Conservatory in Ohio. She has also attended a course during which she built her own natural trumpet according to an early 17th century model.
