Specifically designed for kids four to seven years old, this program is a unique and innovative band music program that exposes kids to the fun of playing an instrument in an actual rock band setting. Imagine your own children, as young as four, strumming on a guitar, playing the keyboard, or tapping away at the drums. Kidzrock teaches the fundamentals of music while they have the time of their lives!
What is Kidzrock
Kidzrock is an acclaimed music program that provides kids with an introduction to the world of rock music in a what that is accessible to them, while also maintaining their engagement with a lot of fun. Differing from more mainstream music lessons that can often feel rigid or overwhelming for young minds, Kidzrock utilizes a play-based method that encourages both creativity and musical exploration. The lessons are designed to instruct kids on the fundamentals of playing an instrument in a rock band, without any of the anxieties about practicing at home or mastering complex musical theories.
The core element of Kidzrock is its band-centric structure. In each lessons, kids rehearse and perform with their bandmates on drums, guitar, and keyboard. The bandmates even rotate instruments, so everyone gets to try all three and learn the basics of each. This keeps things exciting and engaging, while also helping kids develop a more well-rounded understanding of each bandmate’s role, and music as a whole.
Of course, at four to seven years old, most students haven’t learned how to read music yet. So, Kidzrock uses a simplified, colour-coded system which lets kids jump right into playing without the need for traditional sheet music. In fact, the Kidzrock songbook is full of fun, instrumental rock songs written specifically for the program. Similarly, the instruments themselves are colour-coded and modified for smaller hands.

What Does Kidzrock Teach?
While there’s a whole lot of fun packed into every lesson, that’s not the only goal! Kidzrock also provides a strong musical foundation that will stay with your kids for years, whether they continue to pursue music or not.
Basic guitar, keyboard, and drum mechanis
Each member of the Kidzrock band will get hands-on experience with each of the three instruments and will learn to hold and play them correctly. They’ll get the chance to learn to strum a guitary, keep rhythm on the drums, and play melodies on the keyboard.
Beginnings of reading music
Kidzrock uses a simplified and colour-coded system to teach young kids the basics of reading notes and music.
Improvisation
Creativity is key to music, and improvisation is an important part of rock music! Kidzrock encourages kids to do both by exploring their own musical ideas. Learning improvisation early allows kids to develop their own special musical voice and find confidence in their skills.
Musical dynamics
Learning dynamics–the volume at which a note is played–is an important part of musical expression. Kidzrock introducing this basic concept, and teaches kids how to use it tocreate more engaging and expressive performances.
Singing on pitch
While the instruments are critical for any rock band, so is singing! Singing on pitch is fundamental for any musician, and Kidzrock helps them hone that skill as well in a fun and supportive setting.
Musical terms
Bandmates are introduced to basic and essential musical terms and their definitions. They will build their musical vocabulary and start to learn to communicate effectively as musicians.
How to play in a rock band
The most important, and most exciting, lessons that Kidzrock teaches, however, is undoubtedly showing kids how to play in a group setting. They’ll learn to listen to others, stay on beatr with the rhythm, and contribute to the entire well-rounded performance.
