Stacie Carmona
Soprano Stacie Carmona has been described by the National Post as “the whole package—voice, acting, and charisma,” and praised by Opera Canada for her “huge, thrilling, rich sound.” She made her professional debut as soprano soloist in Verdi’s Messa di Requiem with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bach Elgar Choir.
A graduate of the Glenn Gould School, the University of Toronto’s Opera Division, and Pacific Opera Victoria’s Resident Artist Program, she has performed with leading ensembles including the National Ballet of Canada, National Arts Centre Orchestra, Canadian Opera Company Chorus, and Boston Symphony Orchestra. A strong advocate for modern music, she has premiered works by Alan Smith and Charles Heller at Tanglewood and in Toronto.
Recent highlights include Verdi’s Requiem with the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra and the premiere of Heller’s Melodies. A regular with the Canadian Opera Company Chorus, she has appeared in productions such as La Traviata, The Magic Flute, Carmen, and Eugene Onegin, and looks ahead to the premiere of Ian Cusson and Cherie Dimaline’s opera Empire of Wild in 2027.
In addition to performing, Stacie is a dedicated teacher and director who helps students build confidence, refine their singing and acting, and develop their unique voice. She has directed the Musical Theatre Program at the Music Studio since 2010 and continues to lead its summer program, with productions including Annie, Mary Poppins, Oliver, Les Misérables, and The Sound of Music.
